Youth Performance Training


Improve performance in your child's favorite sport by training for optimum results with Blue Star Fitness. We specialize in improving youth sports performance while balancing your child's program to reduce the risk of injury. Sports skills training includes: speed, strength, agility, quickness, flexibility, balance, power and conditioning for all sports, including football, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, hockey and martial arts.

Our goal is to provide a solid fitness foundation for each child by introducing the basic skills and concepts needed to achieve a healthy and active lifestyle. Providing a good athletic foundation is very important to your child's development. Encouraging them to stay physically active can give your child an injury-free active lifestyle.

Our programs are designed for young athletes to build coordination, balance, strength, agility and confidence. Our nationally certified personal trainers work closely with each child to insure that all exercises and skills are performed safely.

For the past year, I have worked with an extraordinary personal trainer named Donald Poindexter, who owns and runs Blue Star Fitness with his wife Laura. Having worked with countless fitness professionals over the years in cardiovascular work, weight training, pilates and yoga, I can give a highly informed referral for a first rate trainer. Donald is extremely knowledgeable, works with relentless dedication to stay abreast and certified in all facets of fitness training, and is tremendously motivating. Donald has worked with me to address some yoga/running injuries, and I have been impressed with his approach and knowledge. Most importantly, however, Donald has spent the last year working 2-3 times per week with my teenage son, who has no interest in or desire for physical activity. My son has been resistant to trainers in the past, but he always looks forward to his one-hour sessions with Donald, and he always gives 100 percent. My son has some special needs and Donald relates to him in such an inspiring and sensitive way. Donald knows how to get him to work hard and enjoy it. Donald always mixes up workouts, bringing a wide variety of equipment, and focuses on all aspects of fitness including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility, agility, and balance.
